With today’s announcement that Alfie Boe will star with Pete Townsend of the Who in the classic rock opera, “Quadrophenia,” at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 5, 2015, is there any doubt left that this amazing classically-trained tenor means what he says when it comes to hitting as many stops as he can on his beloved music train?
Genres? To say genres to Alfred Giovanni Roncalli Boe is tantamount to saying “boundaries,” a dirty word to a man whose musical scope knows no bounds.
His passions are fed as equally by opera, blues, rock, folk, country, rhythm and blues, soul. Any music that emanates from the white keys to the black, from the sharp notes to the flats and back ... it’s all in that incredible tenor, and it continues to spill out in wild, wonderful ways.
So go ahead. Ask Alfie what kinds of music his hears. Only two kinds, says he: the good and the bad. Believe me when I say, if Alfie Boe touches it, it will all be good.
Congratuations on “Quadrophenia," my friend. Rock on!
